What is An Angel Investor?
Not many people know that ANGEL investors are the architects of Capitalism as we know it today.
They are the very first investors in a company. They take the highest investment risk because there is absolutely NO guarantee that the idea will transform into a lucrative venture. And if it does, they stand to make the highest return, sometimes 13x.
For this reason, these investors are “angels” for creative entrepreneurs with stars in their eyes.
But the world isn’t such a shiny happy place. All light is balanced with dark, and the sinister side of these investors’ coins is a single rule that has permeated, defined, shaped, poisoned, trapped, woven the very fabric of American society to the point we are no longer humans, but slaves to our vices:
“Find something that is addictive,” said Paul Reddick, VP of business development at Sprint, during the Mobile and Wireless Investing Summit on Oct. 25, 2006 in San Jose, Calif. He added that the personal media revolution is the 21st century addiction a capitalist should consider when building his/her business. “Media is like oxygen,” said Reddick. “After a minute without it, you’re unconscious; after 2, you’re brain dead.”
What does this mean? The collective BRAIN of the next generation will belong to corporations…Why else would Facebook be worth $15 billion? It’s a continuous connection directly to the brains of the market corporations want to own the most (And isn’t it ironic that it was a young person that built this virtual city?).
We must only look at History and the world around us for proof of this not so sci-fi paradigm. They already own suburban Baby Boomer brains and their Gen X/Gen Y kids as a result of Television:
Did you feel depressed when they told you to feel depressed?

Does Jennifer Lopez doing a triathlon make Latinas everywhere feel like they can swim, bike and run a triathlon too? Not that there’s anything wrong with that…

This is the real WEIRD SCIENCE. Before you are 5, they’ve got you under their spell. They creep into your brain when you are most vulnerable.

And for most of your life, you walk in its haze, sometimes happily, sometimes unhappily, but either way, you have never been in control.
Angel Investors are the 1% of the population that can filter media and see trends before they happen…and capitalize on them. Women are relatively new to this sector (unless they are married to an angel investor). And they are creating new rules for the game of capitalism, where need, rather than vice, is the key to building scalable companies of the 21st century.
